Tiananmen crackdown

In the Article http://www.lee-kuan-yew.com/leekuanyew-freedzakaria.html Lee Kuan Yew shares his political views on America. I find it very interesting when this American reporter is interviewing him and asking him questions about his views on America. He believes that America needs to be more strict and that the government can not solve social problems. Americans believe that they are right and others should follow their path. This is shown on how the American reporter responds to LKY. LKY strongly believes in culture and that the Americans don't put family and basically culture first but instead they put themselves and don't care about anything else. LKY also believes that the act on Tienanmen Square was a great thing that happen for china because they set up a government that works for them and now they are the 2ed  economy in the world. The are just some of my out takes on this debate of America and Singapore.

The Culture Revolution

Was The Culture Revolution a good thing for China? I believe that it was not. In the movie "To Live" The main charter's wife was giving birth and there was no doctors there to help or at least not experienced ones. This drives me insane. If my wife was giving birth to my only child i would want the safest way to have a baby. The ironic part of this was that she was married to a red guard who enforced communism on china and took it very extremely.  The culture Revolution put elites at the bottom and the poor up. So there is constant change in whos at top and who is at the bottom. This relates to cards shuffling on a deck. At one second a kings on top and the next a 3 of spades. Until the person who is shuffling the deck dies and the 3 of spades are no longer on top. In fact they are back on the bottom where the king again is back on top.

To Live and China since 1900

There are many similarities between the book of China since 1900 and The movie To Live. This is probably because they are over the same things. Coincidence I think not. One of the similarities is that Mao is kind of worshiped. In the movie To Live at the daughters wedding they give thanks to Mao for what he has done for them. I believe that Mao is a great person. If I had to choose between him and Jesus I would choose Mao. He was trying to make China better. Jesus was trying to make the world better. But did the world get better after jesus- no it got worse.  Did Mao make China better - of course. Look at China today. It is almost leading the world in economy. America who is before them owes china money in the trillions. Mao was great for china.

wave 3 top 5

So what is the top 5 mos interesting  things of the P.O.D ,the Sui, and Tang. My very own opinion is this order 5 being least and 1 being the best. Even though all of these things have made a great impact on the world, some are just boring and some are pretty freak'in cool.
Tang dynasty calligraphy

5. Calligraphy- even though it is a big part of Chinese  history - it sucks. Its cool to look at if you are an American and you are like "what the hell is that" but the Chinese are writing in pictures stuff that represent things of every day life. Overall even though it would be really cool to write nice lines and say ni-how and put that on paper its just boring. However in these dynasties if you could read and write calligraphy than you would be an elite.

4. Buddhism- Its very interesting how different Buddhism is different form western beliefs. It is hard for Americans to wrap their head around the ideas of reincarnation, abolishing all temptations. It was also hard for the Tang dynasty to accept this religion it went against  a lot of thing that the Tang ( men mostly) stood for.
This is a shrine to respect Buddha that i saw when i visited Sri Lanka
This is a temple i went to in Sri Lanka

During the Tang dynasty, Buddhism declined, and Confucianism became more popular. Even though Buddhism was at its peak during the early Tang dynasty, many of the Tang officials were of the Confucian discipline and regarded Buddhism as a disruptive force in China. So, in 845, the Tang emperor started a full-scale persecution of Buddhists. More than 4600 monestaries and 40,000 temples and shrines were destroyed. Other religious groups were also brought under government control. During the Tang dynasty, Buddhism declined, and Confucianism became more popular. 3. Music- I myself play the guitar so i find the Tang dynasties music very interesting. I wished i had the ability to play the guqin. It is a very Chinese sounding instrument and had a big role in chinese music. The tang dynasty had some amazing pieces that sound great and still can be heard today.

2.Sculpture- Is an amazing part of art and is fascinating to look at. The Tang dynasty has some really great pieces of art. It has alot of meaning in it and inspired the art to come.

1.Martial Arts- is by far the coolest thing that came from the Tang Dynasty. It was the begining of kung fu. Kung Fu came from a Buddhist monetary. They do a lot of cool things and look super epic. The National Geographic channel does a great piece on it.
